Service Description: RUWRF 3km Monthly Averaged Wind Speeds
These layers represent monthly-averaged windspeeds at near-surface (10 meter) and near-hub height for a 15 MW wind turbine (160 meter) based on hourly model output using the best time series dataset (model hours 01-24) from December 2018 through November 2022. The Rutgers University Center for Ocean Observing Leadership ran a daily real-time version of the Weather Research and Forecasting model (RUWRF v. 4.1) from December 2018 through March 2023. This model ran a parent nest at 9km resolution out to 120 hours and a child nest at 3km resolution out to 48 hours. It ran daily following the availability of the 00Z cycle of the Global Forecast System (GFS), and utilized the cold-water-preserving SST composite as the ocean surface boundary condition.
The RUWRF version 4.1 3km dataset can be accessed here:

RUWRF 3km Seasonally Averaged Wind Speeds

Description: These draft data represent RUWRF average monthly wind speed (m/s) at 10 meter and 160 meter heights above surface for the years 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.
CAUTION: THESE DATA ARE CURRENTLY DRAFT FOR PORTAL REVIEW.
The Rutgers University Center for Ocean Observing Leadership runs a daily real-time version of the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF v4.1.2) model, also known as RUWRF. This model runs a parent nest at 9 km resolution out to 120 hours and a child nest at 3 km resolution out to 48 hours. It is run daily following the availability of the 00Z cycle of the Global Forecast System (GFS).
Copyright Text: RU-WRF model runs are performed on the Amarel Cluster at the Rutgers University Office of Advanced Research Computing, with additional analysis and processing performed on machines at RUCOOL.
