BOEM published a Request for Information and Interest (RFI) in the Federal Register to invite feedback from states, Tribal Nations, ocean users, industry representatives, government agencies, and the public. This data layer shows the extent of the geographic area of interest for BOEM’s consideration of commercial leasing in 2026 for Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) heavy mineral sands and phosphates offshore the Commonwealth of Virginia. The data layer is contained within the OCS limits that fall offshore Virginia and includes portions of the seabed with water depths ranging from approximately 10 meters to 110 meters.
These data are NOT an OFFICIAL record of exact boundaries and should be used for cartographic purposes only. These data should not be used to calculate areas.
