Service Description: The layers in this checkbox are GIS data published by the Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC). The Mid-Atlantic Ocean Data Portal identified the following VMRC Chesapeake Bay layers for visualization:
- Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab Sanctuaries 4 VAC 20 752
- Chesapeake Bay Oyster Sanctuaries
- Chesapeake Bay SAV Sanctuaries

No metadata were available in the downloaded kml/kmz files. Please refer to the VMRC web map website for more information: https://webapps.mrc.virginia.gov/public/maps/chesapeakebay_map.php (the web map may not fully display in an Internet Explorer browser).

The data were downloaded from the VA MRC website on September 8, 2023, and visualized by the Portal to match the VMRC web map symbology/colors.
